Although much information is not recorded or available on the earlier days of Jim Jones it is a fact that he was born to a Puerto Rican father named Joseph Guillermo Jones and his mother Nancy was an African American. He was raised by his maternal grandmother.
Jim Jones attended a Catholic school but skipped church often so that he could go and play music at the train station. He was later expelled from the school and he spent his childhood in Harlem.

Jim Jones dropped his debut album on my way to church in 2004. The album featured two singles which made the US Billboard Hot R&B/ Hip-Hop Songs chart. The two songs that made the album gain attraction were ‘’certified gangstas’’ and ‘’Crunk music’’. Certified Gangstas featured Cameron, The Game, and Bezel. This track reached number 80 on the US Billboard Hot R&B /Hip-hop Songs chart. Also, ‘’Crunk music’’ featured his Dipset home boys Cameron and Juelz Santana and it was number 84 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-hop songs chart.
The album was ranked at number 18 on the US Billboard top 200 songs chart, number 3 on the Billboard Independent albums chart and it was number 4 on the Top R&B/Hip-hop albums chart.
In 2005 Jim Jones released his second studio album titled Harlem: Diary of a summer. This album sold about 350,000 copies and 3 of its singles made it to the US Billboard R&B/Hip-hop songs chart. The singles included ‘’Baby girl’’ which reached number 58, ‘’Summer wit’ Miami’’ reached number 78, and ‘’what you been drankin’ on’’ reached 106. The album was number 5 on Billboard Top 200.
In 2006 he released the album Hustler’s P.O.M.E (product of my environment). This album featured his Dipset crew and Lil Wayne. This album became very popular with the ‘’we fly’’ standing out to distinctively sell the album. The single “we fly” featured a signature dance move which was very popular. The single “we fly” still stands as his biggest single to date.
His fourth album was Pray IV reign which was released in 2009. This was his first solo album under Columbia records and the album peaked at number nine on the Billboard 200 chart.
The album titled “The Rooftop” was also released in 2009. This album was a collaboration between Jim Jones and DJ Webstar. this collaboration came to life in late 2009, Jim Jones left Columbia and signed a new deal with E1.

His most recent album Capo was released in 2011. This was followed by the release of two compilation albums, two EPs, 17 mixtapes and he has a total of 17 singles with “we Fly” standing tall among the trees.
Collaboratively he has released many albums with the Diplomats which include “Diplomatic Immunity” which was released in 2003, followed by “Diplomatic Immunity 2” which was released the following year. Along with the group they have released eight mixtapes, three compilation albums, eight music videos, and nine singles.
His movie career has been quite exciting as he has appeared in ‘paper soldiers’ in 2002, ‘A Day in the Fast Life’ in 2005 ‘Red Apples Falling’ in 2009, Righteous Kill 2008, and many more.
